C1 Cooking from/for the Heart
February 14, 2019 - 11:00-1:00 pm
Description: Heart disease is the leading killer of men and women - and claims more lives than all forms of cancer combined. Being diagnosed with cardiovascular disease can also take an emotional toll, affecting your mood, outlook, and quality of life. While weight control and regular exercise are critical for keeping your heart in shape - the food you eat can matter just as much. In fact, along with other healthy lifestyle choices, a heart-healthy diet may reduce your risk of heart disease or stroke by 80%. By adopting better eating habits, you may be able to lower cholesterol, prevent or manage heart disease and high blood pressure, and take greater control over the quality and length of your life. Join us for this special cooking demo at the Healthy Life Center in Coconut Point where you will see that eating foods that are good for your heart doesn’t have to be a punishment. Learn how to cut down on fat, cholesterol, and salt without skimping on flavor and fun. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the Healthy Life Center. $20 per participant to be charged to your member account upon registration. Registration closes Friday, February 8th 2018.
Purpose: Learn healthy cooking techniques to promote good heart health
