Wine
tasting is the sensory examination and evaluation of wine. While the practice
of wine tasting is as ancient as its production, modern, professional wine
tasters (such as sommeliers or buyers for retailers) use a constantly evolving,
specialized terminology that is used to describe the range of perceived
flavors, aromas and general characteristics of a wine. Knowing the history of
the wine, the grape, the appellation the wine came from, as well as the
chemistry behind things is not going to make you a better taster. For that,
there is no substitute for actual experience.
Purpose: Sample a selection of wines at each session and select candidates for
the Member's Choice Wine of the Month
