S19: Understanding Artificial Intelligence - Promises, Dangers and Ethical Challenges
January 18, 2020
· 10:30-12:00
Description: When you hear the term "artificial intelligence" does it conjure images of sentient, humanoid machines? You're not alone. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a popular topic in movies, sci-fi novels - and increasingly, the news. But what exactly is AI? The majority of people don't even think artificial intelligence will be here for at least another decade, despite all the hype. But the truth is AI technology is already a crucial lynchpin of much of the digital transformation taking place today as organizations position themselves to capitalize on the ever-growing amount of data being generated and collected. AI has come a long way to become one of the hottest buzzwords in business and industry. But getting back to sentient machines, how far off are we from creating human-like or Human Equivalent AI? What about Super Intelligent AI? Join us for this non-technical discussion on AI and its current and potential applications. We will also discuss the future emergence of human-like AI, or artificial general intelligence, and the possible moral and ethical issues we may face.
Purpose:
Learn about AI, its current and potential applications, and the issue of AI/Human Ethics
