The ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel escalated in October 2023 after a surprise Hamas attack from Gaza, resulting in thousands of casualties. Israel, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has responded with military campaigns, blockades, and airstrikes. Gaza faces a severe humanitarian crisis, and regional instability has heightened. The U.S. has considerable diplomatic and military leverage – is President Biden using it? Netanyahu is protected by far-right members of his parliament – are they calling the shots? The "two-state" solution seems increasingly unrealistic in the current climate. Iran's proxy network of various military groups includes Hamas, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Houthi rebels in Yemen as well as Syria and Iraq – what possible outcomes could come from a direct confrontation with Iran and its proxies? Can the Abraham Accords survive this mess? Are our long-standing alliances with Egypt and Jordan in jeopardy?

Purpose: Learn about where the war currently is and different future scenarios
